Interesting article- front page says 600bhp GTR stunner but the engine is AS 519 BHP. If the owner is on here dont bother changing the gearing- you won't hit 200mph- ask Lucky with a more powerful engine!

I think you might find it will hit 200 with the additional gearing and that horsepower, it just wont do it in the uk as there is not a runway long enough..

You need a long long road and will get 200mph with the right gearing and no wing.

As Lucky found if you have a long fith gear you bog down changing from 4th to 5th. With 5 miles you may hit 200mph but not sure where you will find the road! Crazy, lucky and myself (all with more powerfull AS engines) never got close to 200mph at bruntingthorpe. I think to have a chance you need to change all the gears.

biggrin Like my box....

Im not running a G50/03 but a G50/52 which has the same final drive ratio as the uprated gear on the 03 box and as you can see below i have different ratios all the way through .

g50/03 g50/52

0.868 0.767
1.086 0.967
1.407 1.269
2.059 1.790
3.500 3.154

I like it, but then Ive never driven an 03 boxed car..

Hi ya yep its my car and iv not long changed the 5th gear , and to be honest (and iv been driving it with a very very self critical eye/ear )and on the road im not seeing / feeling a big drop off in power / tourque band and iv tried it across the rev range from just popping into 5th at a cruising 40 - 50 mark or higher up the speed / rev range it pulls cleanly with out any signs of bogging , now hands up it may become more noticable on a track , and im not trying to sugest iv bought a car that bends the laws of gearing physics its just on the road thats how iv seen it so far scratchchin im well pleased with the way the 5th gear has worked out , as for going for the double ton , err ??? i wont be trying it on a run way , to be honest iv been looking at a long stretch("long stretch" could be the wrong phrase to use ) of road with a continous down hill for about 4 miles , i know going down hill could sound like a bit of a cheat ?? but the way i see it 200 is 200

Darren,

This is not a critism but just personal experince. The drag on these cars over 150 is the killer for top speed but as mentioned a long stretch and you should make it.

Let us know how you get on and what you are doing.

Hard to read the sign, but it is 90 miles long and gun barrel straiaght....
Also dead flat.
Ambient air tempratures may be an issue though...
