Where have you looked ?

Primary reasons are they are likely expensive, and finding a box to mate them to for an installation may not be easy.

But I know of one person with one, fwd in an MG Rover. At least 99% sure its fwd.

Ultima gys seem to like them, but there are not that many about. Actually they are alot shorter than a SBC or LS engine thanks to copact chain drive cams. Think the later ones actually mountthe cam drive at the flywheel end of the engine to make them even more compact!

Unfortunately, for a lot of racing / rallying, the "fun police" (also known as the MSA....) have decreed that we all need to be competing in std production cars with their original engines for "safety" reasons, and the Audi engines generally come in big expensive heavy saloon cars.

Also, race series tend to group engines by there capacity, where a typical 4l V8 is straight into the top class and all the serious competition that results in (for example, in hill climbing, why would you fit a 400bhp 4l audi V8, and then find your competition all have 4l Judd V8's with 600bhp !!)

Outside of that, and where still allowed, they are expensive (especially to tune) and a bit rare to be used by more grassroots competitors.
