Has anyone here got any experience with these?

Are they reliable or even safe for my car?

I'm also guessing that by tampering with the ECU, I'll void my warranty although would BMW even notice when I take it for a service? There's no physical extras attached to the car.....

It just sounds quite tempting as it offers a claimed 44bhp increase bumping my lowly 116d to a respectable 148bhp!

id say they(superchips) were the most well known of the remap specialist.

many will tell you its not a proper remap as its generic.

ive never had bluefin, but i had dreamscience on my focus st, fking brilliant!

will be money well spent imo.


like you say, the best thing is you can remove when taking it for a service.

tell your insurance though!

Had one on my 123d. Very good, highly recommended, miles better than a plug-in box milarkey i had on the 330d

And what about the reliability? My biggest worry is it over-stresses the engine....or is the tuning well within the means of the engine?

They know their stuff do Superchips. Anyway, they are only pretty much freeing up the true potential of the average engine, something that's usually strangled by EU meddling.

Never heard a bad review yet.


P.S are you worried the fleet manager will find out if the engine lunches itself?

It will increase the stresses on all sorts of engine and transmission components. What's your attitude to risk?

One thing to note - when it says 40 BHP Increase, that's not generally at the peak, its just at some point in the rev range. So by whacking some more torque slightly earlier lower down than standard gives them an easy headline bhp increase.

Still, you do get a relatively good, easy to remove map and while not the most aggressive, probably one of the safer.

I had a similar 'chip' on a company 120D 'M' sport. It was brilliant and didn't invalidate the warranty (mainly because I swapped back at services! )

Yeah, I sold mine for £85 I think about two years ago on Ebay. They don't seem to come up very often.

I bought it about 12 or 15 months ago?
