Do any of you know any good engineering recruitment companies that currently have vacancies? I am currently trying to make ends meet freelancing but the volume of work and hence the money I'm making isn't enough and a permanent role or a decent contract role would be very handy.
On a related note what is the best way into contracting JLR always seem to have roles going but the job specs always appear to demand skills that you could only pick up working for JLR, such as knowledge of JLR purchasing software or similar.

It's probably worth talking to them anyway. They describe their ideal candidate who can do absolutely everything they are ever likely to need doing. But if they like you and you are compentant and have similar experience it will probably not hold you back.

I started there this week to do a package that is new to them, so experience of that package wasn't an issue.

My issue is that I am proficient on CATIA, and have an MSc in Automotive engineering but no industrial automotive experience.

I get my jobs through jobsite. All the agents are on there. You may struggle if you have no experiance but you may get lucky. It's always worth a go you will just have to convince the agent it's worth putting you forward.

I'm an Automotive Catia Cad Designer, and have been a contractor since 99.It's who you know in the contracting game and experience is a must, being able to use Catia doesn't mean you can design a part, experience in Automotive really is necessary IMO.

Talk with ARM, Catrell Hudson, ARRK and the like
