Fiat 500 - discount off asking price for an app used one?
Discussion
Hello
I usually hang about on another part of this board but wonder if I could ask for the assistance of those familiar with fiats and, in particular, fiat dealers? My wife is interested in a fiat 500 and having dug about a bit and driven a couple, the one linked below, a 500 1.3 Multijet Lounge looks like it hits the spot spec wise (link here: http://tinyurl.com/39vwtuw ). What I wasnt sure was how flexible fiat dealers would be on their pricing - it would be a cash purchase, no trade in? Any suggestions as to margins etc or where I should pitch an offer / expect to end up would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Andrew

With the 1.3 diesel make sure she does a few miles as if they are eu5 compliant then they will have a DPF which can be a bit of a nightmare.
I have also been looking at a 500 for my parents today. In particular a 500c 1.4 Lounge (bare in mind the differnce in price with the diesel is an hell of alot of fuel if she isnt doing many miles!!) I got told by 1 deals nope to discounts as they only have about £500 margin in on (im talking new cars here), another dealer I have just been to tonight said Fiat pressue the dealers not to offer discounts which will cheap the values high.
After a bit discussion with sales manager, I think I will be comfortable enough to say I shoudl be able to get 4% (£500 approx) off the car I am looking at. He says they dont discount them, which I acctualy believe in this case. After hearing this I woouldnt go back to other dealer, knowing he has been honest on that.
If your looking used then I wouldnt bother, there isnt enough of a differnce in my opinion in valueto justify looking at something that would be a comprmise on spec, colour etc. Also the new ones are carrying finance with an APR around the 6% on a PCP which is cheap.
Got to add, I work in car sales and knew that the guy that said they only had £500 margin knew this but still told me bulls
t! I'd rather obviously go to the guy that hinted at the 4% (helps his dad is also after a Range Rover which I sell!)

We were trading in an old banger, but got around £1k more than we'd expect for our trade-in. The car we're buying was probably £500 over-priced, but we still got the equivalent of £500 discount of a £6k car - so around 10%. I would expect similar discount to be available from haggling for a 2nd hand 500...
