that's brilliant. Do other people cycling in the big city get similar abuse? I've only ever had one car toot its horn at me in rural Birmingham. I ask because I am working in Slough and considering commuting to work (not from birmingham), but might not bother if this is normal for southern commuter types.

Yes.

A certain number are fundamentalist cyclists if you like who probably don't help their situation, but you can just be riding along, out the way, observing the traffic laws and get some neanderthal tt in a beaten up van hurling abuse at you. To be fair it is London (in my case), they probably do that to everybody.
