Anyone got connections in LR?
Discussion
Over on Disco3 website, there seem to be an awful lot of D3 owners who have suffered or suffering with Electronic Handbrake failure.
It starts with a screeching noise coming from the rear and sometimes ends with the handbrake locking on.
Sometimes it can be sorted by cleaning out the brake shoes or just adjusting the handbrake. But inevitably, as in my case, the Electronic Park Brake module needs replacing. This unit cost £325 plus fitting. Its situated above the rear axle so not an easy thing to get at so I'm guesing labour will double that figure.
According to Land Rover, there is no issue and , in a couple of occasions, LR have said it was due to dirt ingress from going off road... !!!! FFS...its a Land Rover.......
So according to LR there is no issue other than user faults.....funny how, with my car now off the road due to not being able to drive due to the warning light and alarm going off all the time coupled with the screech, that LR are listing the EPB module as on back order for around 3 months.
This has been going on for ages. Other owners back in November, February and June have been told the same thing and have had to wait 4 weeks for the part. LR are obviously failing to catch up with manufacturing the item.
LR customer services are no help at all.
Anyone got any recommendations or contacts.....Would Watchdog or another media contact want to hear about this.....If Toyota can recall over their faults then I am very surprised LR (or TATA) dont deem this as a dangerous fault.

If anyone has got connections at Solihull d'you really think they'd use them for this?
Why not...do you not think LR should be answerable for this safety issue? At least to check that someone other than LR Customer Services actually knows there is a problem.
To say the EPB fault is due to excess dirt getting in the system and blaming the user is not good enough from a manufacturer of what is meant to be one of the best 'off road' vehicles.

Maybe try a Defender next time. The hand brake is a simple cable operated affair....and doesn't really work anyway.
