Hi Guys,

Please be aware that Customs are getting really snotty at the moment. 4 shippment this week have been held up by just one simple paperwork mistake. That means a whole consolidated container has to be unpacked on the dock due to a Jiffy bag of curtain rings hadn't got "With" written on it.

I had TNT on the phone this morning saying that a shipment was stuck at Heathrow because a duff steering cylinder being returned to Volvo Penta for testing needed a value. Its worth feck-all 'cos it's duff but full retail is £350.

A product, with no value, being returned to maker for testing of fault is now getting chased by Customs, well done Chaps!

I used to import and export parts from a banana republic for 6 years but I've never seen it this bad for years.

Suspect HMRC is under the cosh to raise more money, and the officials want to keep their jobs. The more parcels you stop the better you must be doing...

It's not only HMRC, but the local Douanes in Luxembourg are also regularly stopping trucks and non-local registered cars for random checks too.

They used to watch the world go by ...

Went through customs on sunday at London Heathrow (not the same, but hey ho), nobody bloody there!

Good job too really - my bag stank of alcohol as a bottle of Apricot Brandy I had purchased in Nepal had smashed in my bag. Not too much of an issue but I was still 12 hrs away from being 18 so that may have raised some difficult questions for both me and the people I went with...

NB: Just remembered there was someone there, but she was clearly busy as she was snapping on a pair of gloves. Cue me and the guy holding the other end of my bag tripling our pace

I bought some brake pads from the states last week and when then arrived, on top of the VAT, there was a 30 quid handling and admin charge from HMRC!

Thieving bd, especially whenbyou consider the postage from the states was only 30 quid in the first place!

It is always a risky one, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, very annoying when it doesn't...
