Not all of them are thugs! Decent (honest/legal etc) clampers only get defensive when turned upon by the 'clampee' (<-- word?), it's the cowboys that will get offensive and these are the guys that need shutting down/putting away.

Don't get me wrong, I think ticketing is a cleaner and better way of enforcing parking, but I also think the clampers who take the mickey have given the genuine ones a bad name!

The fella that works at my place is actually very good. Certainly not overzealous, allows waiting time etc, properly checks the cars for permits - not just the windscreen either!, the fees are £45 all in. Sure he does his job, he's been there for years.

I asked him what he's going to do, having worked in the uni for years his got a fair few contacts so shouldn't have a problem. I do feel for him TBH, a decent bloke doing a sensible job that's been ruined by greedy scumbags.

I believe the government is planning to ban clamping on private land.
