Recaro start child seats again...

I've got hold of an original recaro start seat & the chap selling it said it would be fine for our 9 month old as it was & didn't need an impact cushion. Anyone tried using one with a little one at the bottom of the age range with out an impact cushion? The instructions only say it's recommended, but he does look a little lost in it. I'd happily buy one but they have moved on to the mk2 model (that from reports on here won't fit the cerb) & I'm told the impact cushion from that won't fit the mk1. & I’m having trouble getting hold of one, don’t suppose anyone’s got one they don’t need any more?

Also on a slightly different but related subject; I have got most of the interior out of the cerb right now & it occurred to me removing the rear seat backing may allow the child seat to sit further back giving more leg room. Anyone tried this before I go breaking off the remainder of the captive bots from the seat backs?

If your child is quite small, then I'd recommend using the impact start cushion in addition to the child seat. When I first bought the Recaro Start seat, my daughter was 18 months and fitted it perfectly well. I then use the impact start cushion on it's own for my son who sits behind me in the drivers seat, as couldn't fit another Start seat behind me when driving. He's used this since he was about 3 1/2 years old.

In terms of finding one - fleabay is the answer - it's where I got mine from initially.

Thanks for that Mike, I was thinking there wasn't much chance of fitting one behind the drivers seat. I'd best find a cushion to get him out before I have to start worrying about fitting in any more kids!

Oddly I was just looking to find out how much these would fetch and this thread came up on google - I have a brand new one for sale if you are interested?

It's always worth having a spare Start seat too - for the day-to-day car. I now currently own 4 Start seats as I can't be arsed moving them between cars (and only 2 kids!!!)

Good plan! I was very impressed with the quality of the start seat, love the built in speakers too
