Right.

The belt on my tumble dryer has broken.

I'm surprised how narrow it is, considering the size of the drum.

Anyway - can anyone advise whether replacing it is a relatively straightforward job, or am I likely to end up causing more damage?

I'm inherently tight-fisted, so would perefer not to pay someone to do it.

Thanks.

Take the back off and have a gander. I would imagine it to be a simple job to replace. Oh, and don't forget to unplug it from the mains first.

Had to do this a while, it was a PITA requiring much of the thing to be taken apart, when i put it back together again i didn't put a wee bearing thing that the drum spins on back in place right and after a few weeks of use it ground the peg on the back of the drum away. Still haven't got round to fixing it again.
To sum up - easily diyable but requires patience.

Thanks folks.

I'll probably take the back off, breath in through my teeth and get a quote for someone esle to do it.

I think I'll buy the replacement belt myself though.

Did mine a few months ago. Check the bearing that seats the back of the drum into the casing. mine sheared off thus snapping the belt.
They are very simple things once you get them open but getting the belt on can be a real pain. Definitely something you can do yourself though thumbup
