Route Down From Calais...Time for a change

For the last 4 times I have gone from Calais I have taken the route:

A16 - Abbeville
A28 - Rouen( for the Nice Tunnel )
N138 - All the way to Le Mans (this is the best Road)

I know you can head down to Paris and the across on the A11 but this looks alot of Autoroute so can anyone advise on some good Country N roads down that are a bit less Mondeodane. Whats the N12 like??

If you want another route, a friend of mine goes Abbeville-Paris-Le mans. He think that overall its shorter, and if paris is OK its a lot quicker as well
