Still waiting for my C63 but I read somewhere that you can get some kind of kit/ecu map that will improve the shift times. Is this so? My car won't have the PP Pack on it. Didn't seem worth it to be honest as the ride is a bit more harsh and I prefer to waft about in comfort.

dms do the ecu upgrade and they can put the softwear of the clk black series for faster gear changes.

Mr Darcy, When do you pick your C63 up? Mine arrives in Leeds in the first week of september, Iv gone for Palladium silver with the upgraded alloys. Im going to get evolve to do an ECU upgrade for £999 which will increase power to roughly 500 without going for stiffer suspension and paying £5k for the ppp pack.

pp/plus does not come with stiffer suspension and i have owned c63's with and without lsd and would not buy one again without a lsd.

Black Series doesn't blip on downshifts and is not faster than the c63 ( and noticeably slower / less efficient on the downshifts ) , this alleged upgrade is a very bad idea i would be very surprised if rob was doing this he is smarter than that .
Perhaps you meant another upgrade , like a custom map etc ?
I am unaware of anyone able to improve the AMG software for the gearbox .

For the range ( ie slower changing older models ) thats fine but for the c63 that is a huge mistake . The biggest and I would say only issue with the CLK Black series is the gearchange . If you go on the dedicated black series forums you will see there was a huge push in the USA ( the biggest market for the clk black ) to get the C63 software put on the black series . AMG acknowledge the issue but state there is not enough profit to justify the expense . This is the official AMG forum Im talking about , the information comes from AMG engineers in something called the AMG lounge ( possibly VIP lounge ). This forum is accessed by entering a valid US AMG chassis number . It gives US customers a direct link to AMG .
I myself spoke to the AMG performance studio trying to get the Black Series software upgraded to the c63 version . I was told they were not interested in carrying out this conversion for some reason .

Regardless , I have driven over 40 000 miles in 2 clk amg black series ( road and track ) I assure you the gearchange is slower and does not blip on the downshift .

I do not doubt DMS can , rather I doubt that Rob or anyone at DMS would make a customers gearchange worse . The BS gearshift is not better than the newer , more advanced blipping and AMG acknowledged superior software on the C63 .
I can see them doing it to lesser older models but it is complete insanity to do this to the superior C63 box .
I know Rob from DMS very well and consider him a very talented friend . I will discuss this with him when next we talk but I assure you I am correct regarding the c63 .

Is the OP not talking about the 'new' C63 4.0T and not 6.2 V8.

I think the faster gearbox changes people talk about for the 6.2 come from the C63 Black not CLK Black, but as far as I know you can only do this by sending the TCU unit to the US. You can't do it via updating the software in car as you would an engine remap.
