Hi, iam looking for a kitcar on a budget and would like some opinions?

Should I stay clear of Robin Hood?

I just sold my Tvr Chimaera, would a 2litre zetec Robinhood be of similar performance?

Is it worth saving up and going down the westie route?

Thanks

The MEV Exocet would be well within your budget.

Are you planning to build your own, or to buy one that is already on the road?

I would prefer to buy one already built.

Unfinished project. There are plenty about and you can do the finishing touches yourself.

Have a look at my £999 Challenge thread. I've got a BMW E36 that'll be just as good as a kit car when it's finished but without the IVA/SVA £450 fun Tax.

A decent track day car is as good as a kit car. You won't need to trailer it arround for a start.

Sylva Strikers may be in your price range, much much better than most RHoods

If you don't know a lot about kit cars then having nothing to do with an unfinished project. Nothing but expense and heartache that way. They are unfinished for a reason, and the reason that the seller gives you probably won't be the real one.

In any case, unfinished projects fetch far too much money for what most of them are actually worth.

Buy a ready built on the road car, and make sure it is properly registered, in other words, that the manufacturer shown on the V5 is the actual make of kit, and if you are not sure, ask (here).

You've got the right bits above..... however a e36 will never be as good as decent kit. Best bet is to build a kit out of the e36 and save 700kg or so smile

I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw how cheap it is going for. Especially considering that it has been built up , not with the highest performance bits, extremely well. I would buy it, but i
a) cant afford to
b) haven't got any room
c) wouldn't be able to get insured on it

That Sylvia looks like a really nice bit of kit. If I didn't already have a mid-rear in the garage I'd be sorely tempted...

For a £5k buget I'd be looking at Westfield, MK Indy or anything that tajes your fancy with a Sylva (Fisher) badge. £6K would open up a whole set of higher spec cars though....

And I love the comparisons of an old BMW tin top with 500kg kitcars!!

This is nice but I was put off by the engine. Don't get me wrong it'll be quick, but I'd want more OOMPH.
