Hi All,

I am in the process of buying a BMW 320cd M Sport however the seller has no service book, the car reg is YF55ZMO and was also KOP827 for a year. Can anyone tell me the service history for this vehicle, i have contacted BMW and know of one service in Coventry back in april 2009 but no others. i really want the truth about the mileage as its quite low.

Thanks

As far as mileage goes, speak to the current owner, get the reference number off the V5C and go here to check the MOT history.

This will list the mileages at each of the MOTs. Not foolproof but it would go some way to backing up the present mileage.

Alternatively, find another car - prospective buyers are going to have the same concerns when you eventually come to sell this one so unless it's priced accordingly, perhaps keep an eye out for a better example.

I wouldn't be worried about lack of service book, should be digital.
Try to check MOTS,.
There may be a BM insider who could check the history if you could give a VIN?

Should be digital for a late E46.

Should be one clearly visible, through windscreen, on dash?

Passenger side of the windscreen, at the bottom I think.

I wouldn't touch a car without a FSH after I made the mistake with my first car.

It was an expensive mistake.

And you desperately want THIS car with the shonky history as opposed to any of the other 50 (guess) currently on sale in the UK. Or about to be on sale in the next couple months?

Just say "next" and walk away

What is the digital service history that people are referring to?

So a 5 year old BMW has only one recorded visit to a BMW dealer and that was at 4 years old. Run away, its either been to the moon and back or an abused company car or any other senario that you could come up with.

After seeing the standard of work by most main dealer monkeys i don't care about a full service history buy on condition not bits of paper

It's a valid point. But at least the oil will probably have been changed as part of a service. So it's done "some" good.

So long as the cars been serviced with BMW then call 09062090001 and give the last 7 digits of the chassis. They'll be able to provide the service history to you so long as it's been taken to a main BMW agent. If not ring the previous owner from the log book if you can get their number from directory enquiries and ask where they took it.

As always if in dobut walk away.
