Just had to say that after nearly 2 weeks of trying to find a solution; i have managed to fix my DNS error. You know when you can ping an IP address but no web based protocols like URLs etc. So after many hours on the phone to BT connect my broadband provider, and my line being checked out (fine). I found a solution after i reckoned it must be a TCP/IP winsock related problem. So rebuilt new winsock2 file, re-installed dialup networking, re-installed the TCP/IP adapter and flushed the DNS in the ipconfig file for good measure.. hey presto up and running again.

I used this utility which was excellent from Boston Uni, only works on Windows ME, 98 and 98SE
