Long story short, a 4x4 is the only type of car that i've wanted to own, and not.

I sold a v6 2008 vectra recently and bought a 318i touring. Its a great little car but after only 2 months, i want a change (crazy, i know).

I like big vehicles, and the disco3 looks massive.

The problem with the 318 compared to the Vectra is lack of power. Several times ive lined an overtake up that the Vec would of flown through only for the 318 to struggle. I noticed the TDv6 only has a top speed of around 110 with a 0-60 of 11 seconds. Are they really that underpowered? (this is the only model i could afford).

Its also whether i can justify shelling out 15k for a 5 year old car too....

Its not that they are underpowered its just that the power is more focused on pulling power(torque) than out right speed(bhp). Also you wouldn't want to go much faster than 110 in a 3 tonne box with the aerodynamic capabilities of a house brick.

You will struggle as much to overtake in a TDV6 as in a 318.

We've had ours 2 and a half years and absoluely love it.the only thing we'dchange it for is another one in the next few years. As for overtaking, the auto gearbox does a pretty good job of using the plentiful torque. My other car is a Noble M400, and yet I have no concerns jumping in the Disco 3 as its performance etc, is ample for the road. You can also get them mapped to around 240BHP for 500 quid or so.
Pop on to here www.disco3.co.uk very helpful bunch on there.

The V8s are vastly cheaper than the TDVSnore to buy, and go like a train by comparison. Fastest semi-detatched house in the business.
