s!What gets me is that the races aren't long - it's not like they're enduring several hours of continuous noise.
These days it's too easy to complain about things you don't like because you know someone will have to look into it, rather than being told to FRO and get a life because, in case you hadn't noticed, racing cars make noise....

If I'm correct, the track was there before the bloody residents too, so why is it in this day and age THEY get the say? Tell you what, I'll swap with them. I'd be quite happy watching the racing from my bedroom window
+1
There ain't any churches near what will be ringing bells unexpectedly are there?
It's only going to be some c nt who wants to sell their house and thinks it might be devalued. f
k that. If you live in the immediate area you get a season MSV pass to any event. Bingo. I'd live there like a shot. It's got to be better listening to the odd DFV a few times a year than having kids go past your house sat on skateboards and scooters non-stop from morning 'til evening.
Some people should just be shot.
Also, the government should introduce an act that prevents these mouth breathers from complaining.
Move next to a race circuit - expect noise from engines and tyres.
Move next to a church - expect noise from bells and old people talking outside your house on a sunday morning.
Move next to an airport - expect noise from planes
Move next to a football stadium - expect to hear mouthbreathers on a saturday afternoon.
It's not f
king rocket science.

I couldn't agree more with what you've said.

I live a couple of miles away from Mallory Park and i would sooner listen to that in the summer, rather than dogs barking, kids screaming and the neighbourhood weekend Flymo Grand Prix...
We were racing at Mallory a few weeks ago and my driver meet a resident of the village who said he'd just walked in because he didn't know what was on.He obviously wasn't a big race fan but he didn't complain about the noise.
Mallory village is a lot closer to the track than most houses near Brands.
There has been talk of JP looking at Cadwell with a view to upgrade it - there a very few nearby houses.
Maybe one day the people who live in Brand Hatch village, that make money out of the racing, will look back and wonder why they let a few idiots ruin it?
Even a small circuit, like Cadwell, employs a fair amount of locals full time and a lot of casuals.
Motorsport bring a lot of money to the local area.
Lets be honest as well, brands is next to the M25 and M20 as well as various flight paths at times, so why buy a house there if you want peace and quiet.
Allegedly the main culprit for the noise debate at Castle Combe was a recently enobled person who bought a house in the village one down from Combe. Never going there at the weekend they moved in and heard the noisy cars ( they obvoiusly missed the f
king huge brown signs with race circuit on them when they handed over the cash). They set in motion events which the local councillors did not want to happen but knowing people as high as the Lord Chief justice maybe got him better advice than a local council employed soliciter and the noise levels are now low and strictly enforced by a direct link into sound meters in the council enviromental offices.
Croft had a similar problem and they lost out. At least Brands is well run and funded so maybe will be able to defend their corner against attack. The law really is an ass when this issue and church bells or mooing cows or cockerals crowing gets any attention from anyone.

I've heard Donington has a curfew which seems odd, considering it's on the flightpath for a 24 hour airport
I was told by a friend on a track day there that when he got to the noise test area he had to wait until a plane went over as they couldn't hear his car. go figure that one out.

It may not have been meant as such, but that ^ is an awfully good rant.

It's not f
king rocket science. It reminds me of the residents adjacent to Cosford who complain about aircraft noise. The residents adjacent to an airfield that has been in operation for 70-odd years.

This annoys me more than anything else. As has been said - move next to a race track - expect noise. In reality its probably some stuck up solicitor type who thought they knew it all and then failed to look around the area properly before buying their £1m house. Then they realise their mistake and then whinge and b
h until they get thier way. t

I like the idea of fighting them to the death - maybe we could arrive there in extremely loud racing cars !
