Young Drivers Bonus Accelerator Insurance
Discussion
Hi there,
My girlfriend is currently looking at purchasing her first car, we've been to look at a little citroen saxo today and we've just been doing some insurance quotes for it now.
Diamond have given her the best quote but they have this option of a 10 month bonus accelerator policy where basically, after 10 months you get 1 years no claims instead of after 12 months.
My question is does anyone know if a years no claims on a bonus accelerator policy is:
a) valid as a full years no claims when you make a new quote and;
b) would that no claims bonus be a diamond only no claims bonus or could you take that years no claims to any company and they would class it as a full year?
Cheers,
Matt

When my girlfriend had just passed her test we looked at these too, the most obvious point I noticed was that you paid for a 10 month policy which would count as a years no claims, but in most if not all cases the 10 month policy cost the same or more than an equivalent 12 month policy (which obviously gives a years no claims). Therefore you pay the same for 10 months cover as you do for 12, this is not a good deal. Thus the only real benefit is if you want to own a high insurance group car a few months early. It's like a lot of these good ideas, once you scratch the surface they aren't.

It counts as a full years ncb and any insurance company will accept it. Its not only Diamond who do it either.
No it doesn't, and no they won't. A few might accept it, but you will have to shop around at renewal. Agreed there are others that do it, but there are plenty more who don't.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
