+1

But I also love the RS500s and also the Vic Lee Motorsport 320s (?) in the listerine colours.. just thought they were ultra cool.

If you hadn't said BTCC and had opened it up to DTMs as well then I would have added the full fat EVO II Mercs with mahoosive rear wings.

As for best years? Probably 1992-1998 roughly.

Decent grids, and passionate racing.

Anything from the 90s, though especially the S40, A4 and Laguna.

I recently watched my 1st. BTCC race for many a year, at Snetterton,(the last one was back in the last century in the 90's!), and quite honestly watching paint dry is probably more exciting. There were only 17 cars entered and I can't remember how many actually took to the track to perform, you couldn't call it racing. Very good for photographers incidentally, as you knew in which order the cars would be in the next lap.

All this so called equalisation with weight penalties destroys the inequalities of the cars racing and driver abilities and the 'races' are as processional as F1. Take the weight penalties away and you would have overtaking and, best of all genuine racing again.

Like this, although this picture is from the early '80's.

And pretty much all the cars from the 90's, it was such a great period, distinctive cars, great drivers, great racing.

So many to choose from...

The current cars are slightly better looking than a few years back but not a patch on the super tourers of the 90's.

A little off topic, but does anyone have any information and pictures of Frank Sytner racing?
