Not really taken with the look of them. Seen a few made up to look like an Impreza.I was interested in these when they came out, thinking it was a homologation special to help them go rallying.

But the F2 has nothing in common with any of the above.
Very little of the changes were performance upgrades, more cosmetic.
And remember their last effort in the WRC?
The Accent WRC car.
The manufacturer made a last minute exit from the sport leaving their uk based car builder (MSD?) in the lurch, bills unpaid, drivers with no drive etc.

We started with a factory f2 (not sure what the difference was between this & an SE), fitted an inlet cam, backbox (magnex?), white dials, cobra alarm, front bumper, rear spoiler, leather gear gaiter & handbrake boot, evo badges, a build number sticker & probably some other bits I can't remember. They were available in blue and silver. Not as successful as the vectra gsi's we built alongside but they were a decent enough car if you could live with the cheapest plastic dash you've ever seen.
my mums had one for about 6 years
has been 100% reliable and to be honest they are fairly rare aswell, theres a t reg one round here that some guy seems to use as his daily driver but i havnt seen any others this year
they are around 20bhp over the standard 2 litre engine and i believe are just over 150bhp which makes them fairly nippy, they dont sound too bad either
you wont get 3 adults in it, unless the 3rd is under 5 foot or dead
msd who make the evo no longer exist so replacing parts might be tricky, the backbox went on my mums and had to be replaced with a horrible twin pipe job like you found on the normal coupes
is abit on the thirsty side
ride is very firm but seats are comfy and everything is placed well, the car drives and handles nicely although i have never been able to push it through the twisties.
overall a good looking nippy coupe,IMO look best in blue and will turn a few heads that will probably look away when they see the badge

I used to have the normal 2.0 Coupe and found this place: http://www.hyundaicoupe.info/ a fantastic source of info and help. Also a friendly bunch, well they were when I was there about 4 years ago.
Look out for the normal problems with cars of this age, rust and general wear and tear, cambelt every 60,000 (if I remember right) and the manifold can go and isn't cheap to replace. Beyond that the only issue I had was the wheel bearings which some garages won't replace because they are a pig to do. Beyond that I loved it. There are 2 types of Evo, one with a little more power and one with just a few cosmetic things. Oh and the boot is HUGE for the type of car.
Edit to add mine was yellow and was easily the best looking car I've owned.
