Setting off to the Tatton show today, the Griff wouldnt rev over 1800 revs without cutting out, i could set off no problem and change gear before 1800 revs and everything was ok, after a few miles it cleared and off it went 30 miles, anyway a mile before Tatton it started again not going over 1800 revs, if i took it out of gear it would rev very easily without missing a beat but put back into gear same again, the only other thing i have noticed is it doesnt settle on tick over, and the fuel pump seams to be slighlty louder???? or is it me??

Any ideas chaps?????

Damp dizzy? ecu? fuel pump? leads breaking down? coil?

if its giving problems under load then I`d say the coil on the way out, but also if the fuel pump is getting noisy this can sometimes be down to an old partially blocked fuel filter.

When fuel pumps are on their last legs they also seem to make more noise.

Check the vacuum hose is connected between the fuel pressure regulator and the back of the plenum.

Its worth a quick check of the throttle pot- the track can wear out at certain points, and when you hit a "dead" spot with the car moving the ECU thinks you are on the overun, so it cuts the fuel. This does not show up as much when stationary as the speed sensor signal is missing, so the ECU still provides provide some the fuel for the car to idle.

Yes a few things to look at, it must be electrical/fuel side cant be anything else, i think i will check the other listed things and then go basic first...

cap, rotor arm, coil, fuel pump,

Thanks...

Had similar before, or though not as pronounced with the 100amp fuse in the foot well breaking down. Under certain load it would actually cut out rather than not rev, but always worth checking the little blighters, although you may only have the chassis rail one, not sure whether all Griffiths had both, someone will correct me I'm sure.

Had a chance to look at the griff today, first of all i disconected the ecu and left it for about 10 mins while i changed the battery master switch thats fitted to it as it seemed a bit worn,as i remembered that when it cut out at 1800 revs no battery warning light came on so it got me thinking, i then checked everything under the bonnet and all seems fine, no lose connections or anything missing.........

Anyway been out in it for about an hour and no problems, seems to be running as good as new, so im looking forward to doing the b/pool run fridy evening
