Alfa Brera - Any good? TALK TO ME!

What do people think to the Alfa Brera?

I'm not overly concerned about reliability as I'm hoping they've moved on in the past few years... Anyone?

Avoid the 1.9JTDm if you don't like replacing EGR valves every 20-30k. If you're going for the 2.2JTS make sure it's not stuttering accelerating from low revs.

Bloke at work has/had one - Not seen it for a while now I think about it.

Looks great, but he commented that the 2.2 guzzles fuels and really isn't that quick.

I like it.

It doesn't really matter that it gets panned in every review. Who gives a fk about its dynamic abilities? That's not what it's about. The Brera is about looking good and nothing else on the market will carry it off as well for the money. Except a Spider.

What a great looking car

I came so close to buying the v6 the other day, 2004 with ALL the kit on it 60k sold for 4200! at auction I went down for a people carrier but nearly came back with the Alfa, only thing stopping me was what the mrs would of done to me, still may be one day

A mate and I went to a launch do for the Brera and Spider! We both came away a bit underwhelmed as we were expecting a great sports car from Alfa. I wasn’t until a bit after that I realised that they had made a very good junior GT! It has a nice ride and lovely interior but isn’t a particular sharp handler, not that quick either, by man is it good looking! The Prodrives are supposed to be very good as is the new 1750. I would say that the 3.2 GT is a better car though!

they dont make a 1.9jtdm, they only do the brera in 2.4 jtdm (fast, sounds good! Poor on fuel) or a recently released 2.0 jtdm, much better than the 2.4 on fuel, quick and clean. The 2.2 issue is fixable by a remap and isnt as bad as people would have you believe (or for those of us with clutch control). Overall a great car, ladies love them and they always turn heads. Always wanted one, however they are expensive from new and i cant get the finances to work thru a company car scheme @ 12k per annum they are 3-35 £490 per month!

I was chatting to a feller with the 2.4, he was pullinf his hair out at the amount of time it spent at the dealer. He really liked the car, but the problems he had with it ruined it completely.

Shame, I really like them!

It's a good looking car but the concept was far better looking. Being based on the 159 means the wheelbase is too short and the body sits too high.

I wanted a Brera..really, really wanted one. Took one for a test drive. At 6'2" I had to bend my head so my ear was touching my shoulder (ok..not quite that bad ) due to the lack of headroom and would've had to chop the legs off my young kids. Totally unsuitable for anybody 6 foot plus. I was gutted!

Two years ago I test drove the Brera and ended up purchasing the 159 2.4 JTDM in Black with red interior. My colleague did go for the Brera and has had endless niggly problems, where I think I have been lucky just had an issue with a whirring noise coming from the air vents.

A truely beautiful car but not particularly exciting to drive but on the basis that nobody makes a bad car and these looks to die for, who cares
