I know this has been done before but the search is still down frown
Can anyone tell me can i leave off the splash guard at the rear of the assembly, mine looks like its got a welded weight on it? (4.6 serp)
The thickness of the trigger wheel is throwing the pully alignment out

Ben,
when I got mine fitted I had serious alignment issues when the wheel was fitted it through the balance out, When the car was started i got terible vibration through the steering wheel due to miss alignment. Eventually I had to get a new frount pully made, 5mm thinner, to keep the balance weight in the same place. However I think this is only an issue with 500's as there is more weight behind the front pulley than 400's. but I would keep all the orignal stuff on to stop any potential issues

He's probably got the JE trigger wheel & you used a plain one, if so I suspect you may well end up confusing the hell out of each other..

Ben,
Had the same problem. I left the splash guard thingy off because of miss-alignment and had the 'new' assembly balanced.

Thanks for the replys,I looks like its a popular issue, is it worth taking a couple of mm off the trigger wheel and a couple off the rear guard? to save having the whole assembly re balanced as others have done?
Im also using a triggerwheels trigger wheel hehe if thats any help?

Costs about 20 quid for balancing whistle also if you take a couple of mill' here and there wont that create a need for balancing anyway.

Im surprised no ones mentioned the fact the plastic sensors only a few inchs above the exhaust, has anyone found this to be a problem?

It did strike me as being potentially problematic but it's been fine. It wouldn't do any harm to wrap that bottom section of the 'Y' piece in a length of exhaust wrap though.

I used the trigger-wheels one, & had to do this to it to get it to fit.

Once all together it should look like this.

Hope these help.

That would imply that the belt pulley is offset, does this not cause a problem for the belt.

Im going to send mine off to get the pulley and trigger wheel balanced without the shield. I dont think its worth the risk imo.

Shouldn't the pulley be balanced with the crank?
