Although any accident would have probably been blamed on the other driver, from your description of events, it does sound as if you didn't slow down enough when you first saw the other driver.
I try to treat every other road user as if they are an idiot, and am not pleasantly surprised that often!
At least no-one was injured, and if you're in a similar situation again, you will remember this incident and act accordingly.

I appreciate that slowing down would be the sensible thing to do but surely the OP is under no obligation to do so (as you seem to be implying), with the Z3 emerging from a minor road onto the A road?I try to treat every other road user as if they are an idiot, and am not pleasantly surprised that often!

I agree that it is best to treat all other road users as blind/stupid. This assumption has saved me numerous times out on the push bike.

I find it stupid how some people commit such obvious acts of idiocy then have the cheek to act like it is somehow your fault. I hope they feel like absolute tools once they get back home (if they do) and think about what they've done. Sadly they probably won't.

You can take solace in the almost-certain fact that he only started having a go at you because he felt like a COLOSSAL tit and it was the only thing he could think to do to make himself feel better. Carried on very sheepish indeed, I bet..
I wouldn't have acted differently in your situation, you simply shouldn't have to slow down just on seeing a car waiting at a junction. Making room for idiots only invites them to continue to be feckless, don't you think? And a decent rant too

I had something similar happen to me last year, but only at 30mph. I was driving along the main road and an old man decided to pull out when I was right on the junction. Despite trying to avoid him he accelerated into the car, writing both cars off in the process. The cheeky b
d then had the cheek to blame me despite being told by the police that he was at fault and a witness agreeing with my version of events. A year after the crsah, and with the court date looming, he finally backed down.
People like him who clearly can't drive and who then blatantly lie to avoid claiming liability should be more severely punished.

I am sure he blames you and will tell everyone he had his right of way light on so you should have stopped and let him join your road

Unfortunately, it's the sort of thing that happens nearly all the time, well, nearly every day anyway. But usually anticipated (spidey senses), and you can take avoiding action.
I had to anchor up the other day turning right at a mini roundabout, a car from my left came speeding onto the roundabout, despite it being my right of way and me being already on the roundabout and being clearly visible from their approach. I performed a full bore emergency stop, only to get a mouthful of verbal abuse from the girl that had passed right across my bows, she screamed out from her open window "fking slow down !", but I was barely moving and it was my right of way 
Part of me wishes I had just T boned the foul-mouthed bh.

No, I wasn't implying that you should have slowed down and let him out, but yes, I think that dropping your speed was the right thing to do. I was merely offering the opinion that, if you had considered the fact that he "may" pull out, even though you had priority (not right of way) you wouldn't have had the living daylights scared out of you.
I drive in central London for a living, and could easily kill twenty pedestrians or cyclists every day, if I relied on them using their commonsense!
My post was an attempt to be constructive. We don't live in a perfect world, unfortunately and people do do things that are stupid beyond belief. All I am saying, is that I wouldn't stake my life on anyone else doing what is right or sensible.
