Arash AF-10 Revealed In The Metal (Carbon Fibre)

British supercar creeps (slowly) closer to reality

The Arash AF-10, the supercar that has been developed by Brit-based Iranian entrepreneur Arash Farboud, appears finally to be close to production.

Previously, only renderings of the AF10 have been seen, despite the fact that the car has been in development for five years and was originally earmarked for a 2007 launch.

Finally, though, the tiny Cambridgeshire-based outfit has apparently built an actual, real-life car and released these images on its website (though whether it's a working prototype, a full production car or a static model, we're not sure).

Motive power comes from GM's 550-horsepower 7.0-litre LS7 V8, with 475 lb ft of torque. Transmitting drive to the rear wheels is a six-speed Graziano GT-ME1 gearbox, while the wheels themselves are custom two-piece aluminium efforts, 19ins at the front, and 20ins at the rear.

Carbon ceramic discs and AP Racing brake calipers (eight-piston front, six-piston rear) help to slow the car, whose weight is kept low by a mix of carbon fibre and aluminium honeycomb - though the roll cage is steel.

When it finally does go on sale, the Arash AF-10 isn't going to be cheap - £320k is one figure being bandied about (by us, last year).

Ps - you can have a butcher's at the spec in more detail below

For that sort of money you would have at least thought they would have developed a decent air box!

Well, certainly looks better on paper than in the flesh, a funny looking thing. But then I'll reserve my judgement til i actually get up close to it.

I'm sorry, and I realise you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but that looks like a POS in terms of the retail price they're discussing.

Why would you? Just, why?

And a Lambo steering wheel, and about as much carbon fibre on show as a Pagani. Reminds me of the Saleen S7, just not as pretty.

That's a lot of money from an untried and untested company. Not completely convinced by the looks either. With all the other performance cars available or soon to be, by well established performance car makers I just wouldn't put my cash anywhere near this. I'll take a 458 and a new McLaren for the price thanks.

This guy won't give up!!! He started out making cars that looked like Porsche 911's and got shut down for doing so. Moved on to making the Farboud GTS, sold a couple but went bust. Sold the company to another bloke and released a Farbio something or other, and now this!! You think he'd learn after his first 3 attempts left him penniless!!!

How on earth are you supposed to get in that thing?

That side sill looks about 2ft wide!

Oh, and to add to the Audi steering wheel, do i see the vent indicator units off a 997 Turbo on the front too?

I like the styling, even if it has enzo design elements. How comprehensive will the engineering be? What kind of durability program do they run?

He's not exactly short of a few quid.

It's his plaything, a bit like the Dutchman and Ascari.

It just looks like a bad Enzo kit car with a few tuner mods on it. The problem with projects like this, where they base their designs on an existing supercar and stick a GM V8 in it, is that by the time they build the thing, the design is already out of date. The Enzo isn't the prettiest of cars as it is and we'll probably see the replacement to that before this AF-10 hits the road.

For £300k + I'd like something original, not at design rip off made from other manufacturers parts bins.

Think of it like this...

You'll blow £40k on a deposit. Delivery will more than likely be late. Then, one day, you're car might arrive. It will have millions of problems, som eof which get fixedm some of which won't.

The £350k you though was getting you something unique did just that, except it will depreciate faster than the salary of BP's Gulf of Mexico Safety Operations and nobody will pay for it, anyway.

Just as you're contemplating suicide and instruction your solicitor to commence proceedings, the manufacturer will go into liquidation. Two weeks later a press release will be sent to Haymarket declaring a new manufacturer has been formed with a supercar in development.

I am, of course, joking.

Every part of that cars design has been lifted from something else as far as I can see. Not only is it ugly, which would be forgiveable, but it just looks like they sat a 12 year old boy down with a copy of a top-100 sports cars book, and told him to point at the things he liked.

It's the super car world's very own version of 'The Homer'

I'm sure a lot of us would like to have a car company named after us, but I couldn't do it because nobody would want to drive around in a Steven, and this bloke shouldn't do it because nobody will want to drive something that sounds like it was named after a nasty skin condition.

looks un finished to me

Look at the position of the pedals and the exposed wiring behind them. And as for 320k -its a lambo/Koenigsegg/Zonda every time rather than this.
