BMW 320d to Clio 182 / Suzuki Swift Sport

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if i could get some opinion on a change of car thats bugging me!

Due to a change in circumstances I no longer need to travel a journey i used to (London to Newcastle every month or so) and im contemplating getting rid of the old oil burner in favour of something a bit smaller (the missus wont drive the BMW coz "its too big!") and a bit more fun.

Has anyone got either of these two cars? The clio 182 can be gotten for about £4k for a reasonably good one thesedays (2004, cam belt done etc) whereas the suzukis ive been looking at can be had for about £5.5k (2006-7). I know the clio is supposed to be amazing but is the suzuki actually any good at all and even worth considering?

I know the clio petrol consumption around my mainly urban driving will be terrible, but was wondering what the suzuki would be like? My daily commute is pretty small (3 miles) and in the BMW at the moment the engine is not really even getting up to temperature which isnt ideal. Its got very good fuel economy out of town but dosent seem to be very economical around town (which is to be expected) but will the others be any more, or similarly econoomical around town?

Im guessing the comfort levels will drop quite dramatically, I came from a fiesta to the BMW so in my mind i basically bought a Rolls Royce Phantom!

Clio a sharper tool, but the Swift may be a better day to day proposition. They sound very good too suprisingly!
