Folks, what sort of fuel consumption do you get when you're out on track? I seem to remember budgeting on about 8mpg, which (in a very back of envelope fashion) average 80mph lap, 20min race, 26miles, 3.3gallons, 15litres. Does that sound roughly right?

A litre per minute is a good guide I think for racing - its a schoolboy error to run out of fuel! biggrin

I'm using about this also, esp due to only having a 20ltr tank, and some times it been nearly empty at the end of a race. (red tops get very noisy when running dry) I have a 1ltr swirl pot after so I know I have a bit left once it gets noisy.

Yep we run on just under a litre a min, so calculate on a litre a minute basis.

If your sizing a tank I'd go for something that you can fill to give you an hours running as that gives the most flexibility for other races.

Very true, I'm planing at some point to change mine so I can use the car in other stuff, once it's all sorted, and if I have any spare money.

Iain - as you know my Griff has a 20 litre tank and, after the long first race at MP with 18 litres on board, I still has a thimble-full left at the end. A litre a minute, as previously stated, for a RV8 engine seems to be about right - maybe more for an AJP.
