Depends on the Montego, I think. The MG ones could be really quite entertaining to drive, especially in turbo form, whereas the Austin ones... weren't.

I owned a Montego Estate and drove an Orion for work. The Montego was in a different league. The Orion was disposably awful.

That would probably be a nice idea. Except the Montego has probably self destructed through a combination of random system failures and tin worm and pretty much every Orion/Escort of that period specialised in engines with terminal piston ring failure.

Two be able to find two to roadtest is probably statistically equivalent to catching Gordon Brown getting his end away with Mrs. M. Thatcher.
