What are the rules for driving the runway? Are you allowed to go flat out or are there rules against that sort of thing?
(just contemplating getting trying to get an slot for the runway next year
)
You have to apply early in the year with a 'Donation' telling them what car you have, any history etc with a photograph(just contemplating getting trying to get an slot for the runway next year
)They will then come back to you later in the year to let you know if you and the car has been chosen for the demonstration display
You can go as fast as you like, it isn't a timed run though

I was there with some others from work
Got confused when leaving and went the wrong way, the exit signs vanished and I ended up on the runway with the motorbikes! Good job it says "Sheriff" on the car
None of the Marshals batted an eyelid and just let me continue! Made a rather quick exit and don't think too many people noticed

You were noticed by the main organiser of the runway runs, Allen Wynn

I was taking to him in the paddock having just done my runway runs
We were there on the Sunday with the TVRs mob handed. Sent 2 Cerberas down the runway and a Chimaera. Were very lucky to park all the cars on the flight line so the parking was ace as were the runway/air displays. This is always an annual favourite so will be back in 2011.

I was pretty disappointed with it myself. It was nowhere near as good as previous years - I don't think splitting it over 2 days has worked other than making the traffic easier.
The car displays were nowhere near as good as there were probably less than a quarter of the cars they normally have. I don't think the weather can be blamed for that as the tickets are bought in advance.
The food stalls were ok for me (though I had a packed lunch so didn't need them) but useless for the veggies as pretty much the only hot veggie option was a cheese pastie!
The other stalls were disappointing too unless you really wanted some army surplus stuff or various un-car/plane related tat (there was even a stall selling leather home furniture!).
The stewards were a bit OTT too. During the day they were stopping people to make sure they had tickets with them and they were trying to stop people leaving early despite the rubbish weather.
The air-display was good as always though the weather caused some cancellations (such as the BoB Dakota).
If the format stays the same next year I won't bother going.
