Where do I find a banger?

Hi

I am in the middle of chopping and changing both my wifes car and my own car. During the overlap of selling and buying the new cars I wanted to find a very cheap run around.

I always hear stories of people who buy older high millage cars for a few pittance amd tun them for many thousands of miles. So where do i find these deals?

What I am looking for is...

Cannot be smaller than a Ford Focus size.
Has to be diesel
Do not mind mega high millage
Looking for at least a few months tax and MOT...

So can anyone find me anything?

I have been scouring autotrader recently looking for a cheap stop gap car whilst I wait for the right car to come up for sale.

There was a Citroen ZX 1.9 TD about 20 miles from me, long tax and test with relatively high miles for about £400.

I bottled it and still regret it now.

Ebay, just bought myself a little run around.

98 Corsa, 61k miles, 2 lady owners, tax & MOT for £535.

Obviously smaller than a Focus, but there are bargains on there to be had what ever you want.

Ask your local back street garages if they know of any.

That's how I got my £300 airport snotter. It's never let me down once in the 9 months I've owned it. Except for the exhaust 'grenading' one morning, but that's another story and it still got me where I was going.

It'll be scrapped/given away come MOT time as it's just not worth fixing and it's more than paid for itself.

Actually, I'm thinking about having something like it for a spare as a matter of course. Very handy when things don't go according to plan or you don't want to leave your P&J in a pub car park overnight.

Try the PH or AT classifieds search and go for anything under 1k or £500 depending on your budget. You'll be surprised by what that buys you! An old merc 300td would be a good buy at that money
