Car Tax question

So my boss just brought a car, he has the V5 but it needs tax in about 2 weeks.

Can he go into the post office, show the signed V5 and proof of insurance and get a tax disc and then send in the V5 or do the DVLA need the V5 first?

Just concerned it will take longer than 2 weeks to get the car registered in his name and therefore be without tax.

you can tax it with just the new keepers section of the V5, so should be ok.

You can tax it with the new keepers section as long as it's within 2 months of the purchase date.

fill in the dvla V10 form. Got one on my desk atm for my new bike. You need ins and MOT

V5 should take less than 2 weeks to arrive anyway, last one i got did anyway!
