Watched this last night,
Along with others, wondering if life might imitate art, (as his sketch)
'Occupation...w
e!"
But instead found it quite entertaining, not in the way Bill Oddies mum got carted off to local nut-house in a van,
But the positively
Black Adder behaviour of his (10th) gt grandad.
The distant cousins poisoning with laurel water,
And the fact he could be shown to be linked to william the conqueror in the end.
He seems a genuinely bright and funny chap too
(Love the RAF airmen)

Watched it last night, and what an ending!
I thought it was funny at the beginning when he was commenting about not being 'posh'. You're shortened Christian name is "Xander", for f
ks sake?!?
Then, yes, old money right through his mum's side of the family ... and a fitty cousin in the ancestral home (Philippa, was it?) tracing his roots right back to William the Conqueror, no less.
So, "Xander" you're actually a Frog!

have to agee on the cousin - right little minx - probably put on the low-cut vest specially!!
Also have to agee on the 'Xander' bit, made me smile..
However, I do quite like the bloke, and it must have been surprise and shock in equal parts when he found out his history and who he was finally related to.
great programme

Certainly 'up there' with Bill for entertainment,
Confess however I was hoping for a re-run of the comedy sketch,
Am I right thinking he was the unexpectedly boffin-esque member of the QI panel
and caught Steven Fry off guard?
Rory McGrath certainly did.Confess however I was hoping for a re-run of the comedy sketch,

Some of these comics are extremely bright and well read (even Johnny Vegas surprises me sometimes).
I think you are referring to Ben Miller. Studied as a nuclear physicist or something.

Can recommend a visit to Raglan Castle though. It is very interesting. Good for kids too.
And the contraction is Sander, know a couple of people who use that form.
Was a really good episode though; what you always hope for in tracing a family tree. "Actually I am descended from William the conqueror, and here is the evidence, now get get the f
k off my throne, Ma'am"
