ST TDCi advise required.

I've got a customer that has 'chipped' his Mondeo ST TDCi using the Bluefin chip.

Our underwriters are being awkward and asking if the brakes and suspension require upgrading for the vehicle to remain safe.

Now I'm pretty sure it has the same components as the more powerful diesel and the ST220, is this right?

Any supporting link would be greatly appreciated.

What is it your asking exactly? if said vehicle with a remap is still safe? and its components are not too stressed? i.e engine / brakes/ susp??

There is no more powerfull diesel, IIRC the brakes are the same as the 220.

I believe the suspension is different though, due to the different weight and characteristics of the engine and gearbox.

All Mk3 Mondeos share identical braking components. Springs are stiffer depending on engine weight. Both ST models share dampers, all other models share the same different dampers.

No they dont. Bluefin will only add approx 30bhp so its going to cope fine. Pretty sure you can take the Bluefin off anyway without them even knowing.

However, the brakes on the ST TDCi as standard are crap (I know, I owned one). The Focus ST brake are a very popular upgrade.
