not too close but not too far you have The Vicarage in Southwell. Fantastic food and highly recomended and not as silly prices as you would get in the evening. The service is second to none!!!

Bit late, but if you like seafood there's the Mussel & Crab in Tuxford. Very good restaurant and run by a Pistonheader too!

dog and duck @ clipstone is about 5 or 6 miles away but the food is awesome !!
Okay then, we went to the Dog and Duck for lunch today. When we first arrived I thought I was getting acid flashbacks but soon realised that the decor is just whacky. Really bloody whacky. I liked it.
The food was excellent and good value.
The service was... patchy and I had to actually go and find the waitress several times. But when the waitress did show up she was polite, cheery and efficient so all was fogiven.
The music was interesting. I never thought I could enjoy country and western interpretations of ABBA and Blondie songs but strangely I did.
We'll be going back soon, so thanks for the recommendation chaps it was a good one. Though next time I am actually going to drop a tab of acid before going in to see if the experience becomes more like a Beefeater.

My fiancee heard him play there once and immediately decided to book him to play at our wedding reception.
