Yep, although i have only owned my 5 since late April, i am not sure whether it fits with my requirements (read young family) and part of me thinks i should return to something more practical (current faves are Audi S3 or Leon Cupra R).

Dont get me wrong, i love it to bits but my sensible head is winning slightly.

The main thing stopping me would be the chance that id lose a fair whack of money given what i paid for it and have spent subsequently!

I know how much id need to sell it for, but its top dollar and i am not sure how long it would take to find someone who would pay it.

I have seen comparable motors priced higher, but also others priced lower - there really does not appear to be any logic behind the pricing!

Who knows what ill end up doing, if i do sell, whoever gets it would be getting a wee cracker and my non-sensible side would be absolutely gutted!

Just venring my spleen a wee bit gents, apols.

I have a 2yr old and a 10 month old and an MX5. It doesn't cuase me any major issues, in fact my eldest absolutley loves going out in the 5. My wife does have a hatchback which we use for family trips, so if it's your only car I guess it would cause some issues.

When my mum became pregnant with my older sister she made my dad sell his MG Midget. While she was in hospital recovering from the birth he went out and bought a new one. It was their only car til I came along 2 years later. I guess these days holding a newborn baby in your arms in a 2 seater convertible might be frowned upon.

Stick with the 5.

I'll agree with you wrt pricing, it seems that when someone comes to sell an mx-5 they usually just pluck a figure from thin air. That leads me to believe that you might be able to sell it for the high figure if you wait long enough.

I presume you bought from a dealer? In which case, you'll almost certainly take a bath if you flog it just now. Why not keep it until next spring - at least that way you'll have gotten a decent bit of use out of it, to offset the loss at resale.

That said, if you think it will need to go before then, my advice would be to not hang about and put it up for sale now, while the favor rests with the seller.

The prices you see advertised are only what people are asking for, it doesn't mean that's what they get or even that the car sells wink

Might chuck an ad up on PH to test the water.

Still not 100% decided either way - didn't help driving into work today, roof down and a nice cheeky wave from some young lass in a red mk1 biggrin

I can't figure out why you bought it - you must have had the family then. You had the guts to buy it. I say keep it and buy a cheap run around for a grand and use that when out with the family.

You have not mentioned what figure you want for the car.

Haven't mentioned price as it's not defo up for sale.

To be honest, I agree with your plan of a cheap family wagon and this is probably the way I'll go.

Just having a guilty conscience day wink
