I do, as it annoys me in traffic and I don't see the benefit in MPG. Just another box-ticking exercise to me!

Just disable it each time you get in the car. I've got a button on my 1 series to do this.

My wife's Smart has this (called Mini Hybrid Drive or MHD, cannot understand what's "Hybrid" about it but that's another story). Real pain, engine cuts out when you stop at the entrance to a roundabout just as you want to accelerate into a gap in the traffic - dangerous. Always disable it when I start the car but wish I could get rid of it altogether.

I never bother when I'm in the 1 series as it only stops when it's in neutral, so it's never a problem at junctions etc, my fiancée however does turn it off as it annoys her profusely

Quite a good idea IMO, we got stuck at a set of lights the other week and I was driving, so the system was on, anyways, the lights were only letting 2-3 cars through at a time and we were waiting for a good 10mins or so, In normal circumstances that would have been the engine running wasting fuel idling whereas it was switched off and restarted 3 times
