Possibly a Jobs & Employment Matters one, but I thought I would go for the wider audience here.
My employer are an absolute bunch of
s, the only question is when would be best for me to get shot. I've never had an employer that is even remotely honest and wondered if theres any out there.
The public / private sector options are there to give me a better idea about what future options to pursue.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by lying.
If you mean my boss tells me nothing is going on when I ask and then the company makes an announcement a couple of days later proving that 'something was going on' then yes they do.
But that's just the way it is. The business has to be run a certain way and if that means keeping folks in the dark occasionally is required then so be it.

What a bizarre question.
Either you're a long way down the food chain and asking questions that you shouldn't be e.g. "How much profit are we making?" before the company has made an announcement to the Stock Exchange
Or you're higher up the foodchain, in which case you should know the importance of closed periods
Or even more likely you're a nosey bugger sticking your nose in where it's nneither welcome nor wanted. Prbably on the basis that in your limited opinion you know better than everyone else in the company.

Thats a very finite set of scenarios.Either you're a long way down the food chain and asking questions that you shouldn't be e.g. "How much profit are we making?" before the company has made an announcement to the Stock Exchange

How about this one : 'Noone is getting a payrise this year' when in actual fact 2/3 of the company did
How about saying you will get training that never materialises
How about saying your job will be more clearly defined so your responsibilities are clearer and then never doing it
How about saying its a 37.5 hour working week when its actually 45+
How about claiming those extra hours can be taken as toil? they cant.
There are a lot of ways that your employer can lie to you. I'm not just being a whining kfc monkey wondering why he hasn't been granted another star on his badge, I am a skilled, intelligent and educated person who just happens to be being treated like one of the aforementioned kfc monkeys.

Here, here. I feel your anger, never believe a word my employer tells me.Tells us what he thinks he wants people to hear - if not the truth. Then tells another group a different answer. Its only ever a matter of time before the two groups mention things and we all get wound up.
Worse is when its told to customers - and he can't remember who he has told what !
Me - I call a spade a spade - and sh..

Not deliberately, well not often, but certainly out of ignorance.
Some fairly offensive remarks have been made over the years along the lines that I must have done something stupid as otherwise they'd have to face the truth about someone else who is far too clever to make a mistake or that they are just plain wrong.
The only manager to tell blatant lies about my work (no excuses here, thats what they were) isn't someone I reported to directly. There are also some cases of personally or politically motivated truth bending and a few of deliberatly deneying the reality of the situation thus making something that I was absolutely right about wrong.
