I see they're still insisting on taking up half the tarmac car park with the 'stunt show'. A show that consists of a bloke on a bike wheelying for five minutes then spinning a back wheel till the tire bursts. Then repeating the show four hours later.
Meanwhile, as the weather turns - which it's wont to do at this time of year - the kits end up having to park on the grass because half the car park is sealed off for the stunt show. Which, let's be fair, is an essential part of any kit car show and the reason crowds flock to it each year.....

I take it that you are not impressed with the free entertainment then.
In fact free everything if you go in a kit car.
I guess by the crowds that are drawn to watch the stunts that it is seen as entertaining.
It's a great show, and we get to show our cars in another part of the country to potential customers who may not wish to travel up to the Midlands in the summer where/when all the other shows are.

No, not impressed in the least. I go to the show (since the early 2000s) to see builders' cars outside and the manufacturers' displays inside, not some bloke doing a couple of wheelies every couple of hours taking up valuable show space. In fact free everything if you go in a kit car.

Undoubtedly the stunt guy has skills but I doubt anyone goes to see him. Once you have seen the Westfield driving bit for a few times again it is boring, but at least it does get people going who maybe would not otherwise be excited.
For me a car show is just that, cars on show, static or moving throw in some trade stands and I am happy.

I won't be going to the Exeter show, but will never-the-less add my negative vote for bike displays of any kind, anywhere, but especially at kit car shows. Those that I have seen (mercifully few) have always left me with a 'so what' impression. Some guy has spent a lot of time practising up some stunts, and maybe amusing himself in the process, but why would anyone else expect to be impressed?
Unfortunately won't be taking the Furore F1 this year simply too busy, I'm sure that will make a massive reduction in their gate no.'s of at least one!
I think you are somewhat missing the point of the bike stunt show - you have to bear in mind that most people who go - particularly those who drag wives & kids along, may know little or nothing of the kitcar industry, or indeed of cars in general - the stunt show will entertain the hard of thinking & indeed those wives & kids who've got dragged along - to the performance car cognoscenti the display may be boring, but for some people this may be the highlight of the show, nay, year! How sad is that?

If that were really the case then I don't know of many women who would go "lets go see the stunt man". If people need to buy brownie points to go thne a craft fair, or some such would be a better offering.

The issue is taking up half the tarmac car park for a ten minute show once every three or four hours. The space could be used for owners, but if it gets busy they have to park up on the grass up the top. Fine in the summer, but at the end of the year when Exeter is usually staged then it's not so good if the weather turns bad.
And all so we can see a couple of wheelies and a tyre being popped. Wow.

I feel it is inappropriate to complain unless you pay to get in.
It reminds me of the chap that turns up in an old Porsche. The guy on the gate (who gets paid) lets him in for free as he thinks he is in a kit. Porsche man then parks up on the nicely cut grass (someone was paid for cutting that too).
He then gets out his flask and sandwich box rather than pay at the catering outlets who have paid to attend and hope to earn a few quid. He then uses the loo, water, paper, soap etc. He then puts his rubbish in the bin, I guess someone gets paid to empty that too. The he has a walk around all the well presented stands inside the well lit and heated hall. At Stoneleigh he gets to meet Tiff and at Newark he gets to see Miss Newark, he may even sit in at a free seminar.
The exhibtors have paid and hope to sell kits but this guy is only looking, not interested in buying, just a cheap day out, I often return from these shows wondering how they are sustainable, I would certainly never complain to the organisers, that would be bad mannered considering I still have my wallet in tact.

I disagree with that Stig.Owners who turn up for shows make a contribution to a greater or lesser extent. At all the shows, Stoneleigh in particular, the paying public are coming to see owners cars at least as much as the manufacturers... As a club we field a constant stream of questions and never shirk from opening cars to allow close inspection. I've allowed people to sit in my own on many occasions.
In return I look around the show a bit, but to be honest there's only ever a few models I haven't seen in the Halls and a few cars outside that are newcomers to interest me. What else do I get? Space for my tent? True. A shower? Not very good.
I go to shows to have a laugh with friends and support the kitcar industry...something I've been doing for 25-odd years.
