dum dum dum!!!!

hey folks just tested out the route and you'l be glad i did otherwise 1 of the B roads i was planning was a propper farmers B road so had to change it!

General plan is meeting at the ploughman FOR 11am for a 11.30 departure.

route can be seen here (hopefully) ***TICK BOX SHOW LARGE MAP***

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&a...

We will be stopping at the crathie tourist info to allow people to catch up.

We will also be stopping at the spittal of glenshee hotel for a bar lunch please bring money!!

We will be stopping at erm the A92 Parking layby to allow others to catch up.

Fuel up before we leave there is a BP opposite the ploughman. For you turbo folk the next super unleaded is in Kirriemuir (100 miles) im sure you can last that long!

This as you know is not a race but there will obviously be "spirited" driving. I am aware there are a few new people comming to this one and some of the roads are very challenging to read so please take your time dont feel intimidated by others who may know the roads better than you.

Id like to make a note about overtaking keep it sensible and safe too many runs i have been on and seen inappropriate times or locations for manouvers.

Also be aware there are loose sheep (calm yourselfs aberdonians!) on the road from braemar to blairgowrie so keep an eye.

I am in the process of printing a map AND directions though i take no responisbility or blame if they are wrong!

i havnt booked places for lunch after the dissaster of last time but the hotel is used to coaches turning up so we will be fine however many turn up or not.

the run took me 4.5 hours of driving including making notes and minor detours to check out different routes on the way. So id imagine we will be about the same but it is well broken up with catch up stops etc.

remember we are having lunch so dont have too big a breakfast!

iv put a fair bit of work into this one so any feedback good or bad would be appreciated.

I live on the route between Blairgowrie and Kirrimuir, I will probably not do the whole run but I might try and meet you on route.
Regarding petrol, there is a Shell station in Blairgowrie that sells Vpower but it does require a small detour from the planned route.

Have also done a similar route many times on the bike and its a good one. Hopefully most of the tourists will not be out to play.
Still trying to make this as well. The petrol station in Kirrie probably only has one super pump, Blair might be a better proposition or even Forfar.

That is one fantastic route - think I might come along too. My three favorite roads are westhill-ordie, the cairn o'mount and braemar-blair gowrie, so should be pretty happy!

The only thing I might have done differently is to turn left at the Ordie crossroads (about 3 miles from Tarland) and cross over at Dinnet to take the South Deeside road to Crathie - passing right by the carpark you are going to stop at. The Burn' O Vat and Dinnet-Crathie road are great, but they will be full of Saturday drivers...

weather is looking good too - see you there!

The Shell station in Blair is definitely your best option as it has 2 pumps with V power, so 4 cars at once, and a good bit of room down the side of the building where those that aren't filling up can stop and wait.

To get to it, all you need to do is after turning right onto Reform Street, go to the end and turn left, instead of right as the directions state, and the Shell garage is 100m along on your left, you can't miss it.

You will struggle to stick together going through Blair and there's nowhere that good to stop and regroup, but as long as everyone knows the route I assume you'll be fine.

A wee word of caution, the road from Blair to Alyth (the first few miles after you leave Blair) is narrow and twisty, with a lot of hidden dips, and as much as that sounds like a good driving road, it's a nasty wee stretch that has seen a lot of bad accidents over the years.

Hope you all enjoy it, I'm out in Blair for a head wetting on Saturday afternoon so I'll keep an eye out!
