Shock and amazement at another MOT pass....
Well, the Rally Wreck went in for it’s annual *cough* Test station delight today, and passed…
But the advisories on a Rally Car/Rally Rep/Race Prep type car are fairly obscure…
Last year it was...
Car presented in Race Spec...
This year it was...
Exhaust system noisey, (their spelling not mine) near to limit... (Well there's a thing!!!)... 107db…
No rear seats fitted at time of test.... (That's because there's a thumping great cage in it and seatbelts mounted on to stress plates in the back panel)...
Rally style seat belts fitted.... (Erm... Yes... And?)
The front lamps apparantly took 10mins of book rummaging too, because they're 100watt lamps, working... But covered...
Why do they add these random advisories?
They, to be fair, also added that the near side CV joint boot looked slightly perished, which, I’d accept, as it did endure some pretty serious abuse at the Sunseeker Demo Runs in February, but the slightly corroded brake line on the same side from last year has disappeared… Amazing… (last year it was covered in mud, this year it was at least clean!)…
But at least the 25year old's got a ticket… And for that I am grateful...

They add these advisories to cover their arses!! if you where to go out of the station, fit rear seat horribly with a few cable ties etc etc and you have a bad crash and hurt someone sat in the horrible seats then the mot station wont be held responsible. No rear seats fitted at time of test.... same with the rally style seat belts, they have to ensure the tensioners etc work, and as rally style dont have tensioners they cant check them!
ive had it on my family motor that advisory was "child seat fitted so unable to check belts" AKA "child seat fitted which i couldnt be arsed to remove to check belt"
It all about covering their arses should something bad happen.
The old girl goes to an Audi Specialist in Haywards Heath and they pop it around the corner to their local MOT station, they've used them for years. I've put the paperwork away now and I can't remember their name without checking later, but they've always been fair. It's just the little observations and advisories I find quite amusing really.

I was only asking as I had some differing advisories from Just MOT's in East Worthing. They have done my MOT for the last 3 years, and for the first one I got an advisory on brakes, the 2nd one no advisory for brakes and the last one I got an advisory for them again ? All without having changed them in those 3 years ?:J: said:

Clearly the advisories for the Rally Car are unachievable without compromising the direction I'd like to go whilst following the 'blue book'...

Very sympathetic to unusual spec vehicles - if he can't write you a ticket on a special car, then no one can.
