Did anybody else watch this tonight or was it a repeat?

It was on BBC 1 at 10:35 http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00tl3lm/Cars...

Overall it was an excellent episode and I recommend everybody should watch it.

I had it on in the background and thought it interesting, too. A bit of friendly advice to motorists, not too sensationalist, and, heavens! the story about the Series 2 went to show that the Police can and do act swiftly to get a result (of sorts).

Nothing surprising really.

I bet upwards of 70% of people blag stuff on their personal insurance policies

insurance sellers encourage you to lower your mileages ffs!

The only surprise for me; someone in the insurance industry saying 'it costs every policy holder £44 extra to cover such scams'. Now that is up from (I think) £33 last year - so they are not exactly winning the battle then.

I preffered the "and this bmw can keep up with ANYTHIING on the road", que a cut to a std looking 520d SE tourer, er, i don't think it can tbh!

Now if it had been a 335d, well of course that would be a fairer thing to say!

Also, they don't half ram the "ooh, dont go fast, you might die" thing down your neck a bit (although i guess that is the point of progs like that) apparently, speed was a factor in almost all car accidents, WOW, REALLY?? have you any idea how hard it is to hit something when you're not moving??? ;-)

Just after the old geezer trundles by on his mobility scooter, the old bill guy says "now thats the speed i want everyone to be going for safetys sake" so, erm, shall i drive to work tomorrow at 3.7mph and see just how safe that is you plonker????? Road safety is important, but so is common sense, we are NEVER going to be able to prevent every single road fatality, (although i guess that would be technically possible), and although 3000 people are killed on UK's roads every year, something like 214 billion miles are driven in total, so thats 1 death per 71 million miles driven, sounds like an acceptable risk to me?? (and i guess it must be, because the majority of people just jump into a car and drive without a further thought).

They also stopped an absolutely CRAZY women in a Pug 107 (ok, thats enough reason to stop her for me...) who was actingly like an absolute nutter and doing nearly 80 down a dual carriageway, crazy, crazy fool! amazing she hasn't killed everyones children by now.......... ;-(

The one sensible thing that was mentioned was that the driving test ought to be a bit more comprehensive thumbup

fact is there are a lot of morons out there driving fast/dangerously but dont even know it

like the lady who didnt even know what her speed was, ok she may have gotten away with it this tiem but its indicative of the standards of osme drivers

and of course the man in the blue van who has driven for 40 years without causing an accident..

Didnt see all of it as got involved in something else, so will have to watch the rest via Sky+. I did however see the bit where the guy said "an Audi RS6" and it was actually an RS4.

The "RS6" bit was a case in point, Some tit gets filmed doing over 100 down a dual carriageway, sticks the footage on you-tube, and gets nicked, fair enough, BUT,
1) as far as i can see he wasnt actually driving in a dangerous manner (100mph, on an empty DC in an RS4 isnt really very danagerous)
2) i immagine the car was his, was insured/taxed etc etc
3) the senior policeman who investigated the case must have spent Hrs/days of his time and police resources, and then many more hrs of legal time / resources to prosecute the guy, who just got a 12 month ban (and no doubt, being able to afford an RS4, that probably didn't really affect him that much). Now, tbh, for "my" tax payers money, thats not really very good value!

It was the same in a previous episode, where the police helicopter followed a biker who was giving it a bit of beans (he overtook a car when cars were coming the other way, but being a fast sports bike he was past well before the oncoming car could have possibly got there!), after about 45mins they finnaly got a couple of ground units to the bikers house, and prosecuted him
So, 45mins of chopper, 2 x police cars, and 6 police officers for probably 2hrs on scene and no doubt the same again in paperwork = 3 points and a $60 fine, wow, money well spent!!!!!

Yet, 2 coppers, in a unmarked car, 5 mins into a patrol around a known dodgey area, stop an untaxed car, nic the guy, go to his house and recover £50k+ worth of drugs and drugs ring stuff, now thats more like it!

I fail to see how "zero tolerance" relates to prosecuting someone for no insurance, as they effectively stated. Do some forces just say Ah, whatever, just buy it when you get the chance?
