Maserati Insurance - what should i be paying?
Discussion
Hi folks
picking up a new gts next week and a bit annoyed with my insurance company who reckon that they can't insure me on this car even though i've had the last 3 years of claims free insurance with them in a 997 c4s
anyway been on the webpages and the cheapest i can get is £3,500. seems a bit excessive to me.
i have 10 years no claims, 3 points (ts10) from 12th September 2007 and 2 no fault accidents from 2005 and 2007.
car is garaged in a semi rural place and i do 9k miles a year (6k pleasure 3k business). i also have an old golf gti that i have insured separately that i use as a runaround.
does this figure seem right? is there anyone else i should be speaking too?
Thanks

I insure a '10 GT-S, '04 BMW 530, '07 Mini Cooper S, '00 Lotus Elise and '07 Clio all on an Admiral Multicar policy for £3,900. The Maserati bit is £1,100.
I'm 33 with 3 points, the Mrs is 28 and also insured on all cars. Only the Lotus is garaged.
Seeing as you have 2 cars try Admiral Multi car, and put your Mrs on the policy as mine actually brought it down.

Just wait until you need to make a claim, then you will see why Admiral are so cheap.I'm 33 with 3 points, the Mrs is 28 and also insured on all cars. Only the Lotus is garaged.

Try giving competition car insurance a call:

I have had my lotus with them for a couple of years and just insured the 4200 - they were one of the cheapest and a very good personal service.

Another one for Admiral.
I know they've not got the best reputation, but we've only ever made one claim (for theft) in 13 years, so I'm happy to take the hit in dealing with them should it be required.
On our 'multi-policy', the Maser comes out the most expensive of three cars on it, at around £580.
Landcruiser is about £300, Mrs Maser MX5 about £250.
That's all fully comp, with guaranteed (protected with knobs on) NCB.
I have 12 years NCB, Mrs Maser about 6 or 7 years.
At over £3k, it sounds very expensive to me!

Adrian Flux also gave me a similar quote but you get more personal attention with the brokers mentioned above as they specialize in high end insurance.

I insure my murcielago (fully comp plus wife) with elephant. They came in about £1000 cheaper than others (£900 vs. £1750).
Of course, youll need a good barrister to sue them with if you make a claim or they try to offer significantly below market/traders rates for it if its a write off. Thats the risk.
From my experience, all insurance companies try to get out paying with random small print....
