X5 first service - oil issue

My 18 month old X5 is coming up to its first service. Any thoughts on whether to let the dealer supply oil or can one take some Costco special and get them to use that rather than paying their inflated prices?

I know someone with a Murcielago who provides his own oil and plugs.

Saves a fortune. More than enough for a posh weekend away with someone else's wife.

You should be able to bring your own oil, provided it's exactly the same as that used by BMW.

Check how much you are being charged for oil before you tell them you're providing your own - so you can check they've taken it ALL off the bill ...

If providing 4 liter bottles, make sure they don't "throw away" the remaining dregs from a bottle !
