HOOD REPAIR "STICHING"

hi all

i'm going to try to repair 6" of stiching thats come away from my hood rear window "with help from the wife"
where can you get the cotton type stuff to do this , colour blue

Hi Keith

I'm not right up on haberdashery suppliers but I have done mine and I recommend you get some good quality Upholstery needles for the job and a heavy duty thimble.

Its not easy if you are going through several layers at the seam.

A Sail Maker or Tarpaulin repairer... suitable for "Double Duck" I kid you not...

take a look on ebay... theres bound to be something ?

I used V69 polyester thread like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Heavy-Duty-Thread-/220597221...

For hand stitching with that stuff I use an awl to do lockstitch, same as you get from a machine. I attached a leather point sewing machine needle to a piece of wooden dowel to make the awl.
