Fast use = 83 - 85

Town use - Joo's ECU chip kicks the first fan in at 92 and the second at 98.

80-85 Normal Use 90-95 in Traffic

I didn't consider mine warmed up until it was at 90

20 miles of nose to tail stop starts on the m60 last week had me hotter than the engine. One eye looking for any steam on the left of the screen and the other on the temp. No need to worry as once again my 50 mile trip to work was faultless and just for the hell of it my 6am blast home was a new record :-)

test drove one t'other day - very nice in all respect except....it ran at more like 90 "normally" - fans cut in etc and it never missed a beat in a good hours drive.

didn't get chance to check coolant reservoir

should i be worried?

the speedo was out by 10mph at 90 (indicated) - owner has a private road - so wondered how reliable gauges are.

Sounds normal to me mine sits around 80-90 on the motorway and when up in London or stop start traffic it normally sits at 90-100 with the fans kicking in and out.

mines 70-75 when weather on the cooler side (below 23 ambient), 80-85 when warmer (23+ ambient), 90+ when sat in traffic, fans on at 97/98 which cut off when back to 90.

Mine reads at 100 in normal, and is off the scale when hot (110+).... somehow I don't think the gauge is very accurate though !

the manual (now I've read one) says 90 is normal op. temperature......so no worries.


and the gauge doesnt sit on the needle stop when its cold either so....

after i had the rad changed, always 90-95 what ever the outside temp is.

Gauge is not very accurate, it seems to be there to show trends rather than accurate readings, plug a lap top in to get a true reading.

If the car is running OK then I wouldn't worry to much, if however the gauge suddenly changes it's reading then worry.

I've run 350 miles now - sound as a pound in all respects except something resonating under the dash at about 2000 rpm....think I'm the one playing up rather than the TVR!


temp is rock steady 90 unless you sit in traffic which then rises - fans kick in and all goes cool. Sat in a very slow progress jam on BHM for an hour and all ok.

Kind of +1. Usually around the 90 but off the scale when hot sometimes, fan/s work ok though, and never any steam. Might get the gauge checked one day.

Has anyone ever replaced the gauge(s) for some 'proper' after market ones that might be a little more accurate?

It's not generally the guage that is inaccurate, but the fact that the capillary tubing runs past all of the hot spots of the engine!

You can a temperature reading off the ECU, which I guess would be the other way of doing it...
