I'm off tomorrow for a long weekend to see someone who has recently moved there, what is it like? Any recommended must see or must do things?

Thanks

I've only ever driven through it to get to the port to get to/from Denmark!

I looked on the city website and they list quite a lot for tourism, in English ...

Can recommend Sofiero Slott

OK it calls itself a castle and really it's just a rather grand house. The gardens are lovely, even better when rhododendrons and azaleas are out.

This weekend is the Garden Festival.

If the weather is up for it then a beach trip? Saturday will be best weather wise looking on the forecast in the paper. The locals will know the best beaches.

Lot of tourism in Ystad these days following the Wallander TV series. Just over an hour by car if that floats your boat.

It is a really nice little city / town, a walk along the marina is nice a drink in the Telegraph is pleasant, the castle really isn't as previously mentioned.

Depending on what you are doing you could get the ferry to Helsingor and go look at Hamlet's castle in Denmark?

There is a pub on the marina (I forget it's name) but they have decent beer and the owner is English.

If you buy booze from the off-license make sure you get there during opening hours.

There is a nice golf course just outside of town and everyone works at Ikea.

you will have a very relaxing pleasant weekend, the club in town is ok too, often frequent with very fit Swedish ladies.

Thank you all! Am looking forward to it, not been to that part of the world before, heard that "pop" is a touch pricey, but hey...
