Noise limits

Hi All
I have a trackday at Brands on 20th September. My only concern is the noise limit is 105db. I have sleeved CCC’s, any idea where I can get these checked before the event.

Macey is your friend, he has a dB meter. He tested mine for me when I went to RAF Odiham for a track day. I reckon you'll be too loud. I've got CCC's with cats in and read 110dB. Macey was 115dB with de-cat and sleeved cans.

I have some std cans I could lend you if you need them. Assuming yours are not stuck fast it's a 5 minute job to switch them.

no chance on < 105 db
but you could be lucky if they tell you in which area of the circuit they check the noiselevel.
perhaps you could lift your right foot passing by
if they do it before entering the circuit youre without chance

My experience is that they ask you to pull into a dB test station/area and then ask you to hold the car at 4 or 4.5K revs whilst they stand with a meter at 1.5 metres behind you and measure the noise level. It should be within limits until the pops and bangs on overrun send the readings through the roof!

Due to mates cocking dates up Brands has now moved to Bedford autodrome on the 25th Oct with a 101db limit! Whytwo, can I take you up on that offer for Oct (even if I just put them in the boot to swap over if needed). Macey, thanks for the offer shall leave it as I suspect I am way over (BTW LCD's should be back in stock tomorrow)

Hello

I have a noise meter at home too (cheap digital one from maplins - used it to calibrate my home theatre speakers).

I'd be interested in checking my own out (S mkII with CCC-"Loud" cans from Racing Green, everything else standard with cats still in).

So I should get someone to hold the meter 1.5 away from the exhaust whilst I rev in neutral to 4000rpm?
What should the meters settings be?
'C'-weighting with range "manual" 90-110dB and "slow response"?

Or will my meter not be accurate enough?

(worth giving it a go imo, but I might end up taking it to a deserted car park to do rather than annoy my neighbours )
