Hi new Tuscan owner

I will be picking up my Tuscan tomorrow always wanted one, after 4 years with the chimaera i felt i needed a change, its a 4.0 in reflex green with purple and green interior 12 months mot just serviced and had an engine rebuild in 2005, i think it may be one of the very early ones first registered 13.1.2000 any tips on running and owning would be greatly appreaciated.

I'm sure you'll have been through the Tuscan section and read about the necessity of allowing a good warm up period etc and bought with your eyes wide open. Sounds like a great colour combo but would be interested to see how the purple and green interior works, so pictures are required .

Make sure the engine is warmed up before you even think about thrashing it is the best advise to keep the engine in good fetle..

I went from Chimaera to Tuscan and my first one was early 2000.

Have you got it? I went from a chim to a Tuscan (still got the chim really must sell it........ ). The Tuscan is very very different, I have already had my hand slapped a few times, but your chim was "special" so the power increase won't be so extreme. Enjoy, the sun is coming out.

Thanks for all the advice i have not long got back, yes it is totally different from my chimaera this car likes to be revved, it comes alive 4k 4.5k but also is well behaved when at 10 20 mph in traffic i will be giving her a good clean but also i think a geo setup is needed there is a bit of vibration when doing motorway speeds here are a few pictures.

Lovely car and colour although I prefer the spiders. Just my opinion though. Did you get it inspected?

Congrats on the car. Is the door release still on the window buttons? Clear indicators would be high on my list.

thanks for the comments the wheels i think are mila? i did not get it inspected because they guy i bought it off of is very well respected in the TVR world, its running spot on only done 21,200 miles has had 2 engine rebuilds the first at the factory in in 2002 with new block and the 2nd with TVR Power at 17,631 miles, there is a folder with lots of invoices for work that has been carried out, lots of work carried out at last service, its only the geo setup and maybe new alloys? there are a few little scratches but nothing that you would notice for 10 years old its not bad.

No the door release buttons are on the centre console,yes clear indicators would look good i have them on my chimaera

If you are looking at new alloys, I got set brand new set of Spiders off the guy that sells them on ebay for a lot less cash than he sells them for on ebay

They were the last of the stock from the makers (Racing Dynamics I think - they were the suppliers to the factory) and he bought the lot.
He has sold of of the anthracite colour but had a number of full sets of silver in the correct offsets.
Don't tell anybody but I offered him £400 cash for a set (he charges a very resonable £500) if I collected (from Southend-on-sea) and like the man from Del Monte..........

I have spent all day cleaning the Tuscan, i used glipton on the leather came up a treat vacumed all the carpets gave it a good wash and wax it now looks superb, the alloys now they have been cleaned look good and in my opinion suit the car they are Millie Miglia f20 limited edition, i am not sure if they make them anymore? so it looks like i will be keeping them, sorry no pics it was dark when i finished.

Well i have to say after a few days of ownership i cant stop driving the Tuscan i love it the drive is better than my chimaera its well behaved !in city traffic! and on the open road it just comes alive the engine noise is a bit different from my chimaera not the v8 burble but its addictive, the throttle response is much better and torque wise not much difference from my chimaera which had lots of torque but get the revs up and the Tuscan comes alive totaly different caracteristics where my chim runs out of puff at 5800 the Tuscan keeps on pulling, what are other pher,s experiences of the sp6 as i think its a great engine, i know the reliabilty issues but none the less its a fantastic engine i hope my engine holds out i am not thrashing it until fully warmed up, anyway i am very impressed, how does the sp6 compare to the ajp8 as i have never driven a cerbera.

Well done on your Tuscan Purchase!! I cant see the pics on this thread for some reason? may be me i guess?!

They are quite a move on from a Chimaera, in all arears really, looks, performance, handling...running costs

There are a few general things i would check over, fuel pipe from tank to pump, rear wishbone bushes, shocks, tyres etc. If she is running well then great, prob not much t ocheck under the bonnet

As for how they compare to the AJP...good question! I had a v8 Cerb, and i find the characters slightly different, but not like the world of difference between the sp6 / AJP and the Rover v8. They both rev high and quickly, smooth progressive power. I felt the AJP was slightly more relentless at high speed, it just kept on pulling. I havent tried this properly in the tuscan because its nowhere near as planted at speed!!

Oh, they both sound amazing too
