China, guy walks into a dealer ship to buy a Van and pays with loose change he has collected over many years. 9k worth of loose change. They had to draught in a load of workers just to count it and it took them 2 days.

What a dick!!! Why would he go out of his way and waste his own time to do that when he could have been paying it into the bank whenever he got it and got the van at the first place he went?!

We used to have travelling types pay for Mercs in cash back in the mid-90's.

A large holdall would be handed over and it would take the accounts ladies an hour to count it out. IIRC we didn't even check for forged notes back then, but it was hardly an everyday occurrence.

There was a story recently about an old couple who had saved all 'pennies' over the years. All friends/relatives were aware of this, and also gave any pennies they found to the old couple.

IIRC they ended up amassing over £200k....

What kind of buffoon counts all that change? You give it to a bank and they use MACHINES to count it all.

Banks might have some kind of limit of how much "small change" type stuff they can deposit in a single visit. Some banks here enforce a 2 coin bag limit during peak hours.

If it required multiple visits, he would probably have been visiting the bank for a month before getting it all in. And once in the bank, it just gets spent.
